Woman allegedly destroyed stolen stickers

Staff reports

A 20-year-old North Hornell resident was arrested Tuesday, January 17, for allegedly destroying vehicle inspection stickers that were stolen during a September burglary in North Hornell.

Samantha Dellapenna allegedly destroyed the stickers as Steuben County sheriff’s deputies were responding to her apartment Nov. 10 as part of their investigation into the North Hornell burglary. Deputies said Dellapenna destroyed the stickers at the direction of Eric T. Bebout, who allegedly committed the burglary.

The stickers were stolen during a burglary Sept. 11 at Monroe Muffler. Bebout, 23, of Howard, and at least one other person allegedly broke into the business, deputies said.

Dellapenna was jailed on $2,000 cash bail after she was charged with felony tampering with evidence.

At the time of his arrest Jan. 3, Bebout was on parole after serving prison time for burglary. He is charged with third-degree burglary in connection with the North Hornell break-in.
