Two students were injured when pickup truck slammed into the back of an Addison school bus early Monday morning, Nov. 5, on Main Street.

Steuben County deputies said nine students were on the bus when the accident occurred at 7 a.m.

Two students, ages unknown, were taken from the scene by ambulance to Corning Hospital, deputies said. Both were treated and released.

Theodore T. Ostrander, 52, the driver of the pickup truck, was charged at the scene with driving while intoxicated by drugs and other traffic violations.

Deputies said Ostrander had taken prescription drugs prior to the accident. He will appear in Addison Village Court at a later date to answer to the charges.

The school bus, driven by David J. Baker, was stopped at the railroad tracks on Main Street when it was rear ended.

Deputies said the investigation will continue.
