A man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly raping a woman inside a Bath Village home.

Mackenzie Ellis, 33, of Bath, was charged with first-degree rape by forcible compulsion, a felony.

He was arraigned in the Steuben County Centralized Court and sent to the Steuben County Jail on $10,000 cash bail.

“Without getting into a lot of details, Ellis had non-consensual sex with the adult female victim,” said Bath Village Police Chief Chad Mullen. “There was a prior relationship between the accused and the victim.”

Mullen said the victim came to the Bath Village Police Department Tuesday shortly after the alleged incident, reported the crime, and Ellis was arrested the following day.

It's unclear when Ellis will appear in Steuben County Court on the charges due to courts being shut down during the COVID-19 pandemic.
