Staff reports

Joel Rosko, a freshman at Campbell-Savona Central School, wrestled in the USA Wrestling New York State Freestyle Championships three weeks ago in Binghamton.  He finished in fourth place in the Cadet 135 lb. division wrestling for the Finger Lakes Wrestling Club.  This past week he was notified that he was selected as a wild card and will be participating in a training camp this weekend at Cornell University to prepare for the USA Wrestling Cadet/Junior Freestyle National Championships to be held in Fargo, North Dakota, in July.  Rosko has been wrestling with the Finger Lakes Wrestling Club since October and just started training for freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling in March.  He will attend another training camp for four days prior to leaving for Fargo and then have another four day training camp in Fargo before the competition begins.  Rosko finished this past wrestling season with a 33-3 record and has a three year overall high school record of 98-24.

Cost of the training camps and trip to the national tournament is a total of $1500.00 which he is currently working to raise.  Rosko was given 100 raffle tickets to sell at $10.00 each, with the drawing for the $5000 prize to be held July 9 in Binghamton.  If anyone is interested in purchasing a raffle ticket or donating as a sponsor to help defray the cost of the trip they can contact Joel Rosko at 527-4429, or at 5137 Campbell-Savona Rd., Campbell, NY 14821.
