Bath falls late to Greece-Odyssey

Staff reports

For 55 minutes, Bath Haverling drew even with the eighthranked team in New York State among Class B schools. In less than two minutes, No. 1 seed Greece-Odyssey scored two goals for a 2-0 win in Thursday’s Section V, Class B semifinal game.

Kelsey Lafferty broke a 0-0 tie with 24 minutes left in regulation, followed a minute-and-a-half later by Leah Buccilieri’s insurance score to give Greece-Odyssey a berth in the title game. The Rams did Thursday what they’ve done all season, keeping the score low to give themselves a chance – surrendering just 10 goals in 18 regular-season games.

“Our defense played great and our keeper played wonderfully,” said Mike Clancy, Haverling’s girls coach in his first season with the team. “Our girls worked hard tonight, but we’re not disappointed, what a great year for these girls.”

The defense marked the top scorers, while Brittany Orlowske made 14 saves against a dangerous offensive unit.

“I’ve got to tell you, she was amazing tonight,” Clancy said.
