Addison boys take Class C title
With five finishers in the top 15, the Addison boys claimed the Section V, Class C title Saturday and earned a trip to the state meet.
Winning for the first time since 2002, Addison was led by Omar Byler’s seventh-place finish, and not far behind were Israel Byler and Thomas Abbey in 10th and 11. Seth Burton placed 13th and Gary Wagner was 17th.
“This was a great year for us, the guy ran really well,” said Addison coach Tim Lyons.
Brenna Lyons also made the state meet for the Knights with a third-place finish, just 48 seconds off the lead pace.
Campbell-Savona’s Jon Pearl is going to the state meet for a second straight year following his second-place finish to lead the Panthers to a runner-up finish.
Pearl will be joined by teammate Megan Bouton, who placed seventh overall in her race.
“I’m proud of Meg having a good race today and the boys ran exactly the way I wanted them to run – they executed perfectly,” said C-S coach Tom Fleet.
In Class CC, Wayland-Cohocton swept the top thre spots, led by Meghan Curtin’s overall win, while Bath Haverling’s Lauren Cook and Myranda Hosley finished sixth and seventh, respectively. Hosley recorded her career-best time at 21:55.
“I thought they ran outstanding races today, it was a nice way to end the season,” said Bath coach Todd Ludden.
